How to Get Camden County Court Records
First figure out which court keeps the file. Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, and municipal offices each keep their own files. Joy Lynn Turner is the Camden County Clerk of Superior Court. Her office holds Superior civil, domestic, criminal, and related records. The county-linked CourtsCMWS and Georgia E-Access providers may surface an index. Both need accounts, and neither promises every image.
Camden County court records can also be requested at the Woodbine counter, by mail, or by email. For email, write to the Open Records Officer. A phone call first can confirm the amount and availability. Fax is listed. The county does not promise every request can be finished that way.
- Identify the court, case number, parties, and exact document.
- Decide whether an index, plain copy, or certified copy will meet the need.
- Choose provider access, counter service, mail, email, phone, or the available electronic certification route.
- Confirm the copy fee and any search, retrieval, or provider charge.
- Submit the form and payment through the channel the clerk confirms.
- Check the copy against the case number and requested filing.
Three Camden Record Layers
Three layers make up Camden County court records. A docket is the chronological index of filings and events. A filed document is the complaint, answer, motion, order, judgment, exhibit, or other item behind an entry. A certified copy is a clerk-authenticated version of one of those documents. Each layer serves a different need. One does not stand in for another.
| Layer | What It Shows | Best Route |
|---|---|---|
| Docket or register | Dates, titles, settings, and dispositions | Authorized provider or clerk |
| Filed document | The actual text and attachments | Image access or clerk copy |
| Certified copy | Clerk authentication | County form or GSCCCA eCertification |
Not certified: a screen print may help with research, but it is not a certified Camden County court record.
Types of Camden County Court Records
Superior files can include general civil, domestic, equity, felony, and lower-court appeal material. The register may point to documents that need a separate image or copy request. Lower courts remain separate custodians. So check jurisdiction first. Do not send a deed question, Probate estate, Magistrate claim, or city citation to the Superior civil or criminal desk.
- Docket sheets and chronological registers
- Complaints, petitions, answers, motions, and notices
- Signed orders, judgments, pleas, and dispositions
- Civil, domestic, and criminal case files
- Filed exhibits and attachments, subject to access rules
- Certificates of pending action or unsatisfied judgment
Mailing a Camden Copy Request
The county's certified-copy and open-records form asks for first and second parties, a civil divorce date or criminal charge and date, document type, number of copies, requester contact details, signature, and date. Type or print clearly. Include a check or money order payable to Clerk of Superior Court. Never mail cash.
Send USPS to P.O. Box 550, Woodbine, GA 31569. FedEx or UPS goes to 210 East 4th Street, Woodbine, GA 31569. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Call 912-576-5631 for the total before mailing, since certification, staff help, or an older file can change the cost.
Time-sensitive request: The form gives no guaranteed production date. Ask whether the record is available and whether an in-person pickup can be arranged.
What a Camden County Court Record Contains
A full case file goes well beyond the public calendar. Camden civil calendar samples list case number, filing date, party roles, attorneys, cause of action, judge, and remarks. Criminal calendar calls are thinner. They show case number, party code, item number, judge, and name. The clerk file behind those fields may hold the actual pleadings and orders.
| Case Number | Superior civil YYYY-SU-CV-[sequence]-[suffix] or criminal YYYY-SU-CR-[sequence]-[suffix]. |
|---|---|
| Pleadings | Petitions, complaints, answers, motions, and responses. |
| Orders & Judgments | Signed rulings and final or interim decisions. |
| Docket Sheet | A chronological index of filings, notices, settings, and outcomes. |
| Exhibits | Filed evidence and attachments when public access permits. |
| Financial Fields | Fees, costs, fines, balances, or judgments only if the file or provider exposes them. |
Open Records Goes to Turner
When a public file is hard to locate, use the county form. It names Clerk Joy Lynn Turner as Open Records Officer. Email jlturner@co.camden.ga.us. The office should respond within three business days. That response states whether responsive records exist and whether they are subject to release. It also gives an estimate or timeline when the material is not readily accessible.
That notice does not promise every document in three days. Search, retrieval, copying, redaction, and supervision can take longer. After the first 15 minutes, the lowest-paid qualified full-time employee's hourly rate may apply. Letter or legal copies under the open-records instructions cost 50 cents per page. That holds unless a specific statute controls.
Note: If no notice arrives, the county form directs requesters to call the Clerk of Superior Court at 912-576-5631.
Certified Copies and Fees
Plain copies reproduce a file. Certified copies add the clerk's authentication. Camden's July 2024 fee schedule distinguishes unassisted, assisted, oversized, electronic, faxed, and certified copies. Confirm the total before paying, since page count and service route affect the charge.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Regular unassisted copy | $0.50 per page |
| Regular assisted copy | $1 per page |
| Oversized copy | $2 per page |
| Certified or exemplified copy | $2.50 first page, $0.50 each additional page |
| Electronic or faxed copy | $2.50 first page, $1 each additional page |
| Computer printout | $2.50 per page or equivalent |
| Pending-action or unsatisfied-judgment certificate | $3 |

Camden Electronic Certification Route
The Clerk links the GSCCCA eCertification portal for electronic certified copies. Confirm the specific Camden County record is eligible there, and ask what provider transaction charge applies. The county's local PDF does not list that charge.
The GSCCCA portal handles the successful manifest image itself.

The portal offers another delivery route. Still, certification availability and provider fees need confirmation for the document you want.
Public Access and Sealed Records
Georgia Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 sets the default. It treats court records as public unless law, rule, or a court order limits access. A sealing order should identify the restricted portion, nature, duration, and reason. The court weighs the harm from disclosure against public access. A short temporary limit may also apply while the court reviews a request.
Juvenile records, sealed material, and protected identifiers require special care. Rules 21.6 and 36.17 limit sensitive identifiers in public filings. Redaction can leave a docket entry visible while hiding a number, address, or image. An Open Records request cannot override a seal. It cannot override a juvenile restriction either.
Key Rules:
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 governs public access and record restriction in Superior Court.
Georgia Open Records Act guidance explains general agency-record access and exemptions.
Rules 21.6 and 36.17 require care with Social Security, tax, account, birth-date, and other protected identifiers.
Older Camden Records and Transcripts
Some Camden records sit beyond easy reach. The county says as much and promises a timeline once you ask. No digitization start year, microfilm schedule, or archival turnaround appears anywhere. So build a strong request instead. Give the clerk the parties' names and roles and an approximate date. Add the case number if you have one, plus the document type. Include the civil or criminal date details the form requests.
Transcripts and courtroom recordings work differently from ordinary clerk copies. Camden provides a Rule 22 recording request form. The court posts no local reporter transcript rate or retention schedule, though. Ask the clerk which reporter holds the proceeding you need. Watching a hearing or pulling the docket does not by itself give you the right to record it.
Vendors sometimes show only an entry title. When that happens, request the actual filing. If an image is missing or redacted, ask about the plain or certified copy route. Ask about any stated exemption too. Searching the portal again and again will not surface an archived, sealed, or separately held transcript.
Camden Copy Request Details
A complete Camden County court records request helps the clerk find the case and the document. The county form asks for the first and second party names. It also wants a relevant divorce, offense, arrest, purchase, or other date. You'll list the type of document, the number of copies, and your mailing address and phone number. Helpful document labels include judgment, warrant, disposition, deed, and plat. Mail your request with a check or money order, never cash. Add a self-addressed stamped envelope too.
Certified copies cost $2.50 for the first page and $0.50 for each additional page. Regular unassisted copies run $0.50 per page, while assisted copies cost $1 per page. Electronic or faxed copies follow a different schedule. Computer printouts may be charged by the page or equivalent. When you don't know the page count or total, call the clerk before you mail anything.
Missing and Restricted Camden Files
A blank image link or a missing online entry has several possible causes. The record may predate the provider's scanned collection, require an account, or belong to another Camden court. It could also contain sealed or redacted material. Juvenile records are commonly restricted. Georgia Superior Court rules also govern sealing. They cover the removal of protected personal data from public filings.
Ask the clerk whether a paper file, a courthouse terminal, or an archived image exists. A permitted redacted copy is another option. Camden's Open Records Officer handles requests that the normal counter cannot resolve. That office can issue an existence and release response with a cost estimate. The three-business-day response window is only a deadline to answer, though. It does not promise that every responsive record arrives within three days.
